Subject:  Ghalib Academy's Message on Jon Elia's death

Please allow me to share the grief and the loss Urdu contemporary poetry has suffered with the death of Joan Alia. He was small in stature and insignificant in appearance - but he was indeed a giant amongst his contemporaries, a legend in his own time, a class by himself. After the demise of Nasir
Kazmi, he was the living successor of the God of Poetry - MIR.
GHALIB ACADEMY (Canada) will cherish the memory of his presence in Toronto when we arranged an International Seminar on MIR and associated the function with JON ALIA Celebrations in cooperation with Writers Forum.
