Canada's versatile Urdu Personality and prominent author, Athar Razvi's
latest book, "Chehrey-Baten-Yaden-Loag" was launched at the prestigious Goethe
Institute of Karachi in the presence of the elite of city's literary circle on
26th of March. The event was presided by Dr. Farman Fatehpuri, the greatest
living authority of Urdu language and phraseology. Jamil uddin Aali, the last
remaining legend of "Urdu Tahzeeb"in Pakistan who could not attend the
function due to his prolong illness, sent a message in which he admired the
book for the ' brutal honesty' and sincerity that was displayed by the author.
Aali Ji in his tributes to the author said: "No one can possibly show more
courage in speaking the truth as Athar Razvi does in his writings ". Dr. Viqar
Ahmad Rizvi, a respected Scholar called the author a "Safaqati Shahzada" ( a
Prince of Culture) who relishes the nostalgia of Islam's lost glory and
endeavours to preserve his heritage. Dr. Satyapal Annand, the most notable 'Nazm
nigaar', e-mailed his light-hearted comments from Canada congratulating the
author for his exemplary style. Professor Saher Ansari, a learned Urdu
Scholar, said that every time Athar Razvi comes to Pakistan he brings along a
marvellous piece of Urdu prose. His love for his language and for the city of
his childhood, Aurangabad, comes out in all of his writings. Farman Sahab
recalled the times he spent in Toronto as the authors's guest and admired his
services for promoting Urdu in North America. A. Khayyam and Nasim Anjum, well
known fiction writers were the other speakers who read their papers on "Chehrey-
Baten.." and Yawar Aman recited his poem which were appreciated by a large
audience. The event was generally considered as one of the most memorable book
launches in Karachi.
